How to Get Around Gozo
Once you step off the ferry at Mġarr Harbour, Gozo is yours to explore. The island is small enough to cover in a day but there are several ways to get around depending on your budget, group size and how much flexibility you want.
Top Tips for Getting to and Around Gozo
- If you’re travelling with a car, the Gozo Channel Ferry from Ċirkewwa is your only option. It runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
- If you’re staying in Sliema or St Julian’s, the new Sliema and Buġġiba ferry will be your most convenient option once it launches. In the meantime, the Gozo Highspeed from Valletta is a good alternative.
- If you’re prone to seasickness, the Gozo Channel Ferry is the most stable crossing. Both fast ferry services can be bouncy in choppy conditions.
- If you’re on a budget, the public bus network on Gozo is good value and covers most of the island. A Tallinja card makes it even cheaper.
- If you want flexibility, hiring a car is the best way to explore Gozo at your own pace. Roads are quiet and the island is easy to navigate.
- Friday evenings and days before public holidays are the busiest times on the Gozo Channel Ferry. Allow extra time if travelling at these times.
