The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is an action-adventure film based on the graphic novel series by Alan Moore and Kevin O’Neill. The story assembles a team of legendary literary figures with unique abilities, led by the seasoned hunter Allan Quatermain, including Captain Nemo, the Invisible Man, and Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde. Together, they strive to stop a mysterious villain known as the Fantom from orchestrating a world war through a series of catastrophic events.

There was originally no intention to shoot The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen in Gozo, however when catastrophic floods destroyed the set in Prague, filming shifted to Malta. More specifically the cliffs of Xlendi which offered the uninterrupted sea views perfect for the scene on the conning tower.


Sean Connery did not enjoy the experience of working on this movie and officially retired from acting after it was released.
