Synopsis
The life story of Centaine de Thiry, beginning in France in 1915 when she falls in love with South African pilot Michael Courtney, only to lose him hours before their wedding. Pregnant and determined to honour his memory, she sails for South Africa to raise their child among Michael’s family, but when her ship is torpedoed by a U‑boat she is left clinging to the wreckage and washed ashore on the Skeleton Coast, where she is rescued by a local couple who teach her how to survive. Based on the books of Wilbur Smith, this sweeping tale follows Centaine’s journey through war, shipwreck and the wilds of Africa as love, loss and destiny reshape her future
