Coronation Street

Coronation Street, or Corrie as it’s affectionally known, is a stalwart of British television. First airing in 1960, over 60 years later it’s still pulling in around five million viewers per episode. Over the years the cast and crew have ventured to a few foreign shores to contrast a little sunshine with a the more usual grey Mancunian weather. There was a ladies trip to Majorca in 1974, Alec searching for Bet in the bars of Torremolinos in 1987, plus a holiday to France in 1994.

Then in 2007, best friends Steve McDonald and Eileen Grimshaw decide to take a trip to Malta to take their minds off their disastrous love lives.

Thanks to Steve not booking a room before flying, the pair find themselves sharing a double in Hotel Ta’ Cenc & Spa. After some alcohol-induced incidents over the next three episodes, the pair end up by raising a toast to the future.
