Why Visit Gozo in February
Gozo is never truly quiet and while life might slow down a little in January, as the festive celebrations conclude and the weather encourages you to stay inside. February is when Gozo starts sparking back to life, ready for the year ahead, with a packed calendar of events, from romantic Valentine’s Day celebrations to the colourful spectacle of Carnival.
The weather in February can still be a little cool, with temperatures ranging from 15° – 16°C (59° – 60° Fahrenheit) during the day and 10° – 12°C (50° – 54° Fahrenheit) at night. Rain is still possible, but it’s usually drier than January.
February is a wonderful month to visit, Gozo really goes to town on its Valentine’s Day celebrations, and in 2026, the Gozo Carnival festivities stretch from the 7 February to the 17 February.

Inħobbok Concert
The 2026 celebrations kick off on the 31st January with a free concert in Independence Square, headlined by The Travellers. Immensely popular, and rightly so, across Malta, this should be a very well-attended event, so make sure to get there early if you are planning on going.

Gozo Carnival Opening Parade

The Gozo Carnival is a highlight of the year with dozens of events taking place all over the island and it all kicks off with the opening parade in Victoria. Colourful, vibrant and the first chance to see the floats, costumes and dance routines that have been worked on for the past year.

Nadur Spontaneous Carnival
I know it seems counterintuitive to share dates for something called ‘spontaneous’ but the meaning here is that there isn’t an organising committee, so no rules apply. Expect to see costumes making political statements and improvised performances.

Valentine’s Day
There’s a whole two weeks of romantically inspired events taking place on Gozo this February, from concerts, fairs and even bingo! These are some of our favourites, but make sure to have a look a the full programme on Events in Gozo.
Valentine’s Love Under the Stars

The weather might be improving but why take the chance? Celebrate Valentine’s a little early in a cosy dome tent with a starlit ambience. Enjoy live music, comedy, poetry plus drinks and nibbles.

Express Your Love

The craft village on Gozo is worth visiting even when it’s not Valentine’s Day. Here you’ll find a range of artisans creating beautiful items all year round, and all with love. On Valentine’s there’s a variety of workshops taking place so you can make your own heartfelt gift for a loved one.

Art & Culture
If your attitude to Valentine’s is the equivalent of ‘Bah, Humbug’, or you’re all carnivalled out. There’s plenty of other events taking place on Gozo in February that might be of interest to you. From classic cars to free movies, exhibitions and concerts, February on Gozo should have plenty to keep you entertained.
Free Cinema Sundays
Did you know that Victoria has a cinema? You’ll find it by the Citadel, which explains its name of the Citadel Cinema. It has two screens, is very reasonably priced and is putting on a month of free movies in February. There’s also a free drive-in showing of The Jungle Book taking place at 18:00, 8 February at the Leli Farruigia Football Ground in Victoria.

Dija

A solo exhibit by Clara Azzopardi which explores how light weaves throughout the human experience.

Legends on the Road
If you’ve ever visited Gozo, you might have spotted some old cars, in immaculate condition driving around at the weekend or on public holidays. It is safe to say that the Gozitans, and the Maltese, love their vehicles. Legends on the Road is dedicated to iconic motors from across the years. The event is free but donations to Puttinu Cares will be collected during the event.

Family & Kids
Keeping the whole family entertained can be a struggle, especially when the weather isn’t playing ball. Fortunately Gozo has plenty of activities aimed at families of all ages.
