Food is a big part of the experience for a lot of travellers, and a trip to Gozo should be no exception. Fortunately there's plenty to get your teeth into, from food tours to cooking classes. You can even arrange for a Gozitan picnic to be delivered to your accommodation, or fully set up at a beautiful location.
Taste of Gozo Food Tours
Join a Taste of Gozo for a Culture and Food walking tour around Victoria, Gozo's capital. Over the course of two to three hours, your guide will introduce you to iconic Gozitan food and teach you about its place in local cuisine. You'll enjoy several tasters of local delicacies, include pastizzi, rabbit stew, traditional coffee and lots more. Traditional Maltese Cooking at Maldonado Bistro
If you want to those interested in local Gozitan and Maltese cuisine, Maldonado Bistro offers exceptional cooking classes in their air-conditioned open kitchen above their restaurant in Victoria. These 4-hour masterclasses are led by the bistro's head chefs and take participants on a journey through local recipes and essential preparation techniques.
Priced at €65 per person, the cooking class includes learning four recipes, coffee, water, cheese tasting, a market visit and lunch. Participants gain hands-on experience in a professional kitchen while discovering traditional Maltese recipes. Starting in March 2025, these weekly classes provide an informative and entertaining activity perfect for food enthusiasts.
The experience begins with a local market exploration, where participants select fresh ingredients before heading to the kitchen. Jam Sessions
Gozo is an island of music. Throughout the summer there's usually a concert or gig of some sort happening somewhere but if you want to a more active participant, then there's several regular jam sessions that happen all year round.
Every Sunday from two o'clock onwards, there's a very welcoming session at The Castle in Victoria. No instrument? No problem. They have a collection of guitars, plus a keyboard and a cajón that they are happy to let people use. Also Sundays but during the evening, there's a lively session to be found at Zeppi's in Qala. If you can't wait for the weekend to get your musical fix, the Crab Shell Kiosk in Xwejni runs a session every Wednesday.
